@pneelam
This is not the right place to post your doubt. Although there are no much differences between mysql,sqlserver and oracle you first confirm with your seniors or from practical exam centre what type of DBMS they are going provide for practicals. Accordingly try to practice. So that you can get better marks. |

Nice one. But why don't you use the embed code with icons available in skydrive to embed it here? That looks nice and professional.

Joe Celkos SQL Programming Style Joe Celko, maybe one of the most prominent representatives of the database community these days, has written some of the best books about SQL programming in general. This book, however, is different. SQL Programming Style doesnt teach you how to become a better SQL developer with SQL puzzles and brainteasers. Rather, it shows you how to work in logical and declarative terms. - SQL-Server-Performance.com, August 17, 2006 download

Expert MySQL - Apress
(IMG:http://knowfree.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/51bisquqnil_aa240.jpg) Since the enormous number of new features made available with MySQL release 5.0, MySQL has been gaining steam as a viable alternative to database behemoths like Oracle and IBM DB2. MySQL users now have the ability to extend MySQL with new SQL commands, optimize query execution, and embed MySQL within low-resource environments like embedded devices and kiosks. Expert MySQL, by Dr. Charles A. Bell, is the first book to examine these opportunities in detail, showing you how to wield maximum control over this powerful open source database. You'll learn how to create your own custom storage handlers, ensuring maximum flexibility and speed within your specialized applications. You'll also gain valuable insight into MySQL's architecture and learn how to tweak its behavior through custom changes to the source code. Download Password: knowfree.net |

I have updated the link for Silberschatz's book. However, don't try filexoom for some days. They are changing servers and so the files/accounts are unavailable for now.

I downloaded and installed the software and it seems that this is a nice GUI tool to visually as well as manually build SQL queries in Oracle. However, I do not have Oracle installed. I plan to install Oracle 10g soon. I have tested similar tools in MySQL which I installed in my computer since I am doing my project using PHP/MySQL and these types of tools are quite handy in building queries visually without writing actual SQL.
So far as Oracle 10g is concerned (11g is also coming up), one can download it from the Oracle website for free. First, view a comparison of the editions in this page - http://www.oracle.com/database/product_editions.html . Here are the download pages for the various editions under Windows: (IMG:http://oracleimg.com/technology/images/10g_logos/db_a_clr_rgb.gif) (IMG:http://oracleimg.com/admin/images/ocom/free_download_140x40.gif) 1. Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.1) Express Edition for Microsoft Windows (165 MB) Download from here 2. Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.1.0) Enterprise/Standard Edition for Microsoft Windows (32-bit) (1.2 GB) Download from here If you want the older version, i.e. Oracle 9i, you can download it from here Some further links: Documentation Oracle by Example : Hands on Tutorial R.2 Oracle Instant Client Oracle 10g for Linux Oracle Application Server 10g Oracle+PHP Sample Codes |
