Most probably...I have to check. But the Analysis of Algorithms part is not there properly. You can also read the MCS-031 study material, Unit 2 for it. Most probably Graphs and File structures is not there too. For Graphs too, you can refer to MCS-031.

I don't think its available as softcopy. Here is another link which says it contains the book...I have not checked it. But I think it contains the CD contents only. Indian books are hardly available in pdf form - http://rapidshare.com/files/61222078/DS_C.rar

I have got Kanetkar's book, would it be sufficient to cover the syllabus?

I think its the content of the CD that accompanies the book. It contains some nice demo videos / animations on how searching, sorting etc. are done.

Payment for anything related to this forum was never on the cards and never will be. In fact, this was created as a sort of protest against commercialization of education and particularly commercialization related to the IGNOU MCA course. The challenge was to show them that we, students, can provide ourselves with the best things without spending a single paise.

QUOTE
Eg. Today I am free, I become very active by posting/replying and creating new topics.. will I have same time after 1-2 months? certainly NOT.

And we have demoted Active Members too.

But in general it is seen that "being active" is a matter of mentality. Those who are helpful in nature and/or has a tendency to participate in the activities generally tend to do so as long as they are attached to this forum...maybe at a lower scale when they are busy. But those who are inactive, remain so forever. We have members here who have a post count of zero but have been regularly logging in to the forum for last 2 or 3 years and downloading or copying stuff. So essentially "active-ness" is a matter of mentality.

QUOTE
Just wondering how Google, Yahoo, Orkut would have survived if they could have made the same protocols??

Can't compare Google, Yahoo, Orkut with a forum like this. They don't run forums only. They survive on a different business model...make profits in some areas and losses in something else. But so far as discussion forums like this are concerned, many that I have seen have member groups and exclusive areas based on some sort of active participation.

QUOTE
Let's think one step ahead & start charging the person with Nominal Charges !! This would keep the member bound & he would be more interesting in using this forum more & more &  we may pay back the amt(not greater than what he paid to become member) to the person who posts anything on this forum which is of any use to others.. You may keep condition of Time i.e  if not found in Forum for arnd 3 months.. membership would go Invalid.

Good business model indeed! But so far as IMSF is concerned, no money to be involved ever....this is not a business. There was a time when this forum was going through a rough patch and was hosted on a free server and many members wanted to contribute to keep it running. I incur some expenses for this...but I consider it my hobby. Keeping the member bound by way of money is not the idea in respect of this forum. Essentially, this forum is now running itself. With regular contributions from members (mostly active members) and the accumulating knowledge base built from the inputs of members only.

In fact, I don't think that Active Members get much by being active ... its just an extra incentive from the part of IMSF and also sometimes they might want to share something exclusively with other active members only. I know that they don't become active for simply getting the incentives.

But most of the resources are free to everyone, including those who never participate in the forum activities. And most of all, its not the resources but sharing of information, discussions, exchange of knowledge etc. for which people keep coming back. All these are free anyway.

99% Correct Santanu,

But I stand here with diff opinioin, "Knowledge only spreads when you share", I trust that was the only first intension you might had when you started this BIG Venture..

Just wondering how Google, Yahoo, Orkut would have survived if they could have made the same protocols?? You know what?  I beleive is instead of keeping this thin layer of Active/Passive Idea, there is no Guarantee rather!!.. Eg. Today I am free, I become very active by posting/replying and creating new topics.. will I have same time after 1-2 months? certainly NOT.

I would probably use the rich info i got from this forum & pursue my studies .. I have enough material already on my table..!! Only my efforts on the same is lacking!:-) :-) ::-) .. I just felt to scan thru the book you mentioned for Data Structures.. nothing is really lacking as such..

Good Luck & have Nice Weekend!:-)
Cheers!!

The details were already sent to every member through a pop-up PM when they register....this should be available in the "messages" inbox. Unfortunately those are ignored or not read by many members and instead these discussions go on in unrelated topics. The details are also mentioned in details in the Rules and Guidelines of the forum, which a member is supposed to read first after joining here. Also, the link to the rules and guideline are provided in the same page where the message regarding unavailability of an item is displayed.

The thing is that we discourage efforts to become an active member just for the sake of downloading something. If that is the case, then that member will cease to be active right after downloading it.

Mr Chakkrapani,

What are the parameters on which you folks decide the Active/Passive Members?

with my curiosity, I serached in Orkut for MCA groups & since the day (recently 20 days back) I became member of this group, I have been  logging in daily and surfing around...don't know what I can contribute? as I am student of MCA for 2000 batch and since then everything got changed..

Let me know what other things you want me to work on, I am working for MNC in BI domain & may help you folks who are in same domain.. as I know 70% of us  all pursuing MCA in parallel to Jobs. so I can workout this way!!

** I have paper in next month, by the time you give me priviledge of making me "Active" member, I may run out of time!!  so let me know else I should loook the same in bookstores!

Thanks in Advance.

C and Data Structures - P.S. Deshpande

This book is unique in the sense that unlike other books on Data Structures, this one does not describe the theory in details. It emphasizes on the actual C Code and then shows the output and gives a detailed explanation of the code.

As explained in our theoretical class, understanding the basics of Linked Lists are the most important think to do if one intends to have a good understanding of Data Structures. So, here are some links to resources on the internet-
