After mercury interactive had taken over by HP, there is a recent communication by HP that they are going to stop support for Winrunner. That is an indication that they are pushing their other tool, QTP, which is hot in the testing tools market.
So better not to waste time on Winrunner now and learn QTP alone, if anyone is planning to pursue testing career path. Latest version released in the market is QTP 9.5 Latest version of silk test is SilkTest 2008 Good work Hulai... |

WIN RUNNER (IMG:http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj107/TheZomi/WinRunner.jpg) Setup After installing WinRunner 8.0, previous versions of WinRunner installed on the same computer may show unexpected behavior. Workaround: Do not install WinRunner 8.0 on a computer in which you intend to continue using previous versions of WinRunner. Install WinRunner 8.0 on another computer or on a different operating system on the same computer. You cannot install WinRunner 8.0 in a path containing special characters such as European letters (for example, ö, à, ç) or multi-byte characters. This is due to a limitation in the Windows operating systems. When installing WinRunner on a Windows Terminal Server or Citrix operating system, the following message may be displayed after you restart the machine: "You are attempting to open a file of type 'Application Extension' (.dll)". Workaround: Click Cancel to close the message box. Search the computer for files named lsprst7.dll and tmpPrst.dll (they will be located in a Startup folder) and remove them. When installing WinRunner on a disk of 2 gigabytes or more, the WinRunner setup may falsely warn that you have insufficient disk space for the installation. Workaround: Confirm the warning message and continue the installation. Setup will continue properly.
TEST DIRECTOR (IMG:http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj107/TheZomi/TestDirector.jpg) New Features and Enhancements ============================= Remote Execution You can launch and control Mercury Interactive testing tools, (such as WinRunner), home grown and third-party tools directly from TestDirector. TestDirector's Test Run Scheduler lets you schedule when tests will run and assigns the machines that will execute them. WinRunner and LoadRunner Integration TestDirector is now fully integrated with WinRunner and LoadRunner. You can store WinRunner test scripts and LoadRunner scenarios in the test repository, and view them in TestDirector. TestDirector also lets you view the results and analysis of WinRunner tests and LoadRunner scenarios. Importing and Exporting Test Documents TestDirector lets you import your existing testing procedures, contained in word processor documents and text files, into the test plan tree. You can create new and convert existing test documents using Microsoft Word 97, and export them to your project. TestDirector also lets you create a test plan document. This converts the information displayed in your test plan tree to text and exports it to a file. You can then view and edit the file in any report generation or word processing application. Test Plan Tree You can now apply a custom sort order to the test plan tree, attach descriptions to subject folders, and create test names of up to 255 characters. Quick Preview The new TestDirector quick preview gives an overview of TestDirector's functionality and methodology. You can view the preview with TestDirector's built-in HTML viewer or your default browser. Reports TestDirector now includes a Reports Viewer and an enhanced custom report generator. Graphs TestDirector's graphs have been enhanced to provide improved performance and flexibility. For example, you can define colors for graph bars and lines, change the content and formatting of graph titles, and group result categories together. TestDirector includes cross test set graphs that let you to compare the performance of tests across different test sets. Finally, TestDirector's graphs give you the ability to drill-down and locate a specific piece of information. Other Improvements TestDirector also includes an improved permissions mechanism, new sorting capabilities, recursive filtering, live querying, and support for Sybase 11.

Haulai...if you have the files, why not post these somewhere where the resources are available permanently? Why not create an account in a permanent file storage service and post the link here. That will save you lots of efforts and the links here will also not expire. There are many such good file sharing services these days. For example you can try http://www.mediafire.com where they give you unlimited space, upto 100 MB per file, no storage time limit and unilimited bandwidth.

LOADRUNNER (IMG:http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj107/TheZomi/RoadRunner.jpg) LoadRunner version 5.0 contains enhancements in the following areas: Enhanced Analysis Tools LoadRunner 5.0 provides three new tools for helping to pinpoint performance problems and improve the efficiency of your applications. Each of these tools is integrated into the LoadRunner Controller and off-line Analysis. Transaction Breakdown This tool gives detailed information about the components that make up the transaction time to help to determine the cause of slow response time for Oracle servers. The transaction time components include network or client delays or the Oracle database server machine's CPU performance, I/O delays or database locking. Online Server Resource Monitoring LoadRunner now provides online monitoring of remote machine resources from the LoadRunner Controller. This tool is useful for determining what caused a bottleneck on a particular machine. You can monitor the resources on an NT machine or UNIX machine. Network Monitoring You can use LoadRunner's Network monitoring feature to check performance of a network path, allowing you to determine which network segment is causing delays. TestDirector Integration The Controller, VuGen and Analysis are integrated with TestDirector, Mercury's test management tool. TestDirector helps you organize and manage all scripts, scenarios and results using a database repository. If you experience problems connecting to the TestDirector server, refer to the latest TestDirector readme file. Updated Protocol Support LoadRunner 5.0 supports the following new protocol versions: ODBC 3.0, Oracle 8.0, TUXEDO 6.3, TUXEDO 6.4 (support for backward compatibility only) and WinSocket 2.0 (support for backward compatibility only). New Protocols LoadRunner 5.0 supports replay of DCOM Visual Basic Virtual User scripts and full recording and replay of Informix, Baan applications and Java applets and applications.
NOTE - More Testing Tools to come depending on your responses |
